This course meets the mandatory Refresher Training requirements for Security Guards to retain their SIA licence, in accordance with the specification set by the SIA. This qualification is certified by Highfield Qualifications.
The course content includes searching, vulnerable people, and terrorism awareness.

The Security Guarding Refresher course is for existing licence holders, or those who have had a licence recently expire, who wish to renew or reapply for their Security Guarding licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA). This is a mandatory requirement as of 1st April 2025.
If you completed your original Security Guard / Officer course before April 2021, you must have completed a Security Guard / Officer Top-Up course and a Security Guard / Officer Refresher qualification to be able to renew your licence. If you have not completed a Top-Up course, you will need to complete a full 4-day course to be able to get a new licence. The Top-Up course has been discontinued by the SIA as of November 2024, and so cannot be completed after this time.
If your licence expired more than 3 years ago, you will need to complete the 4-day course to be able to get a new licence.

Please note that all learners will be required to complete an English Test prior to attending the course to ensure that they meet this prerequisite.
Results of the multiple-choice exams are available approximately 2 weeks after the course end date. We will contact learners to inform them of their results, and completed qualifications will be automatically uploaded to the Security Industry Authority (SIA).
On passing all of the assessments and examinations, you will be able to apply to the Security Industry Authority (SIA) and make payment to gain your Security Guarding licence. You will also receive a digital certificate for your records.
The Security Guarding Refresher course is a half-day course and requires self-study to be completed and submitted prior to the course date.
This course is available from £80+VAT per person (£96 inc. VAT).
If you need to gain an Emergency First Aid at Work qualification to meet the prerequisite requirements, a bundle deal is also available from £130+VAT per person (£156 inc. VAT).
The cost includes all examinations, course materials, and certification. If anyone should fail an exam, a free resit will be offered.

A: You will need to complete a full 4-day in order to be able to apply for a new SIA Security Guarding licence.

A: Yes. The SIA have introduced the new Refresher courses to ensure that Security Guarding licence holders maintain their skills and knowledge whilst working within the industry.
